A Digital Boost for International Students: GCSE Results Made Easier

09-01-2026

From this summer, Year 11 students across England will be able to access their GCSE results digitally for the first time through the new Education Record app. While this is a major step forward for all learners, it is especially valuable for international students and the guardianship teams who support them.

Results will be securely stored in one place, allowing students to access them anytime, anywhere  and making it easier for guardians, schools, and colleges to support young people during the important transition to post-16 education.

Students will still attend school on results day to meet teachers and receive guidance face-to-face. Their results will then appear in the app, ensuring they have a permanent digital record they can rely on for future college applications, university admissions and even job opportunities later in life.

The national rollout follows successful pilots in Greater Manchester and the West Midlands and is expected to save schools and colleges up to £30 million a year in administration costs. More importantly, it allows staff to focus on what matters most supporting students academically and emotionally.

As the UK continues to modernise education services, tools like the Education Record app represent a positive step forward especially for international students who rely on strong communication between schools, guardians and families abroad. It’s another way technology is helping to create smoother transitions, clearer records, and brighter futures.
