We are asking our colleagues, customers and wider community to join us in supporting our former colleague, Nik, as he takes part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in memory of his wife, Babs.

Babs sadly passed away following her short but courageous battle with cancer.. During an incredibly difficult time for Nik and Babs, Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) provided kindness, comfort and practical support that made a genuine difference to them both.

FACE helped to make Babs’ time in hospital more comfortable in ways both big and small  from providing an air mattress to help her sleep, to supplying ice lollies and a fan to keep her cool during the summer heat.

Most memorably, they also helped Nik and Babs to get married in hospital, creating what Nik describes as a truly joyous occasion during one of the darkest periods of their lives.

Nik is now raising money for FACE to thank them for everything they did for Babs and to help the charity continue supporting other people and families facing cancer.

– A gift of £20 provide two boxes of ice lollies, offering comfort and relief to cancer patients struggling with treatment side effects or symptoms.

– A gift of £50 could provide two bed wedges, helping patients remain comfortable and supported as they return home for end-of-life care.

– A gift of £100 could provide three over-bed tables, enabling patients to eat, read and spend precious time with loved ones from the comfort of their bed at home.

– A gift of £300 could fund two wheelchairs, giving patients the freedom to make short visits home and continue making meaningful memories with family and friends.

– A gift of £750 could create lifelong memories for one child living with the impact of cancer and bereavement through a special trip to Lapland.

Walking for Babs

On Sunday 13 September, Nik will be taking part in the Kiltwalk Wee Wander, with the walk beginning at 10:30am.

Friends, former colleagues and supporters are invited to join him and walk in Babs’ memory.
